Help! I Got a Puppy ("HIGAP") is operated by Joshua Stine. In this policy, "I," "me," and "my" refer to Joshua Stine and HIGAP. This policy applies to helpigotapuppy.com and to HIGAP's owner-operated social publishing tools.

Information I collect

Information you provide

I may collect information you choose to provide, including:

  • Your email address when you request the Puppy Starter Toolkit or join the email list.
  • Your name, email address, and message when you contact HIGAP directly.
  • Any information you voluntarily include in correspondence, feedback, or a privacy request.

Website and analytics information

When you visit the site, HIGAP and its service providers may automatically receive technical and usage information. This can include your IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location, timestamps, link clicks, and interactions with site features.

HIGAP currently uses Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity, and Ahrefs Analytics to understand site traffic and improve the website. These services may use cookies or similar identifiers. Microsoft Clarity may also produce masked session replays and heatmaps showing how visitors interact with pages.

Affiliate and outbound-link information

HIGAP records aggregate clicks on certain book, product, affiliate, and source links. When you follow a third-party link, the destination website may collect information under its own privacy policy. HIGAP does not receive your payment-card information from Amazon or other merchants.

Meta and Instagram publishing information

HIGAP uses the Meta and Instagram APIs to publish approved content to the Help! I Got a Puppy Instagram account. The integration may process an Instagram account identifier, Meta app authorization information, access tokens, approved images or videos, captions, publishing status, and identifiers returned by the API.

This integration is currently an owner-operated publishing tool. It is not offered as a public login service, and it is not used to collect Instagram information from ordinary HIGAP website visitors. Meta access is used only to authenticate the authorized account, publish approved HIGAP content, and record whether publishing succeeded.

How I use information

I use information to:

  • Operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the website.
  • Deliver requested downloads and email updates.
  • Understand which pages and resources are useful to readers.
  • Measure clicks on citations, affiliate links, and HIGAP products.
  • Respond to questions, feedback, and privacy requests.
  • Publish approved HIGAP content through the Meta and Instagram APIs.
  • Comply with legal obligations and protect HIGAP, its readers, and its services.

Service providers and disclosures

I use service providers that process information to perform work for HIGAP. These currently include:

  • Cloudflare for hosting, content delivery, security, and technical logs.
  • Google Analytics for website measurement.
  • Microsoft Clarity for heatmaps and session-replay analytics.
  • Ahrefs Analytics for website measurement.
  • Kit for email subscriptions and delivery.
  • Meta and Instagram for authorized social publishing.
  • Amazon and other affiliate partners when readers follow product or book links.

These providers handle information under their own terms and privacy policies. I may also disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with law, enforce rights, prevent fraud or abuse, protect safety, or complete a business transfer.

HIGAP does not sell personal information for money. Information received from Meta or Instagram is not sold, licensed to data brokers, or used to build advertising profiles about HIGAP visitors.

Cookies and analytics choices

You can limit cookies through your browser settings. Blocking cookies may affect some site features. You can also use Google's Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on and review the privacy choices offered by the relevant analytics provider.

Email subscribers can unsubscribe using the link included in any marketing email.

Data retention and security

I retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including providing requested services, maintaining security records, resolving disputes, and meeting legal obligations. Retention periods vary by the type of information and the service provider involved.

Meta and Instagram access tokens are retained only while needed for an authorized publishing connection and should be removed or invalidated when access is revoked. I use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy choices and requests

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of certain personal information, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, email [email protected]. I may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

Children's privacy

HIGAP is written for adults making decisions about puppy ownership and care. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact me so I can review and delete it.

International visitors

HIGAP is operated from the United States. If you access the site from another country, information may be processed in the United States and in other countries where the service providers listed above operate.

Third-party websites

This policy does not govern websites or services that HIGAP links to but does not control. Review the privacy policy of any third-party service before providing it with personal information.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy as the site or its services change. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page identifies the current version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
